Geoff Z
Hi All,
We are so excited that today is the day! A LOT of sweat equity to build this new website. Chris has been tireless in this endeavor. We would have liked more time, but we were up against a 5/1/16 automatic shutdown of our current site from Amazon Webstore.

So here we are launching as is! We hope this will create a better user experience than the current site. Check out the search engine! Type in any part of anything and it pops up! We are launching with generators and equipment that our current website has. Our biggest goal was functionality for right now. I want to make a very clear promise to you all. Our ultimate goal is that if Generac produces it, we want it on our website! This website will continue to get better and better. So be patient with us. Chris is only one guy!

We need help from all of you, customers, dealers and contractors alike. I want this to be everybody’s website! We welcome all the constructive criticism you guys can offer! From a customer perspective, how can we make this a better user experience? Same request of dealers and contractors. What would help you all?

You all have been such an integral part of Ziller! We value everything you have ever brought to this forum! We want your same insights for the website as well!
This will be Ziller’s bucket list! We so very much appreciate and will read every suggestion. Some we may be able to implement, others we may not. We want to hear ALL thoughts and suggestions. The idea stream from you all on the outside looking in is invaluable to us. It will help our thinking and moving forward in the right direction!
Thanks, Geoff

Is the forum going to have a new address? I don't see a link to the forum from the new site.

The new site looks great.

Thanks

Nice site!
Haven't used the checkout process, so I can't comment on that. Everything else looks very nice.

GMc,

Yes, there is an action box on the lower left of the page that brings you to the forums.

I'd recommend putting the phone number for Ziller Electric at the top of the page (both on the new Webstore site and the forum site). The company name and phone number should be big enough to be easily seen but it should also be using an aesthetically pleasing style. Frequently, folks are advised to call Ziller for something on the forums but the number isn't as readily found as it used to be.

Hey MEC,
Just having fun!! We are here in any capacity you see fit. I should be paying you!! From my perspective what you and others on this forum do for Ziller is immeasurable. We are so glad you're here! The discussions and learning you guys create here bring customers to Ziller, and for that we are very grateful!

Good points Skip! Thank you! I hate web stores that make it difficult for customers to find and talk with real people. We are just the opposite. We want it to be easy. It is our goal to interact with our customers. Our number is on the home page banner. However you made me realize when someone navigates to another page it is gone. The only way then is to scroll to the bottom of site to find our number or go back to the home page. I'm going to beg to see what can be done to put the number on the banner for every page. Same thing here I want to make it happen on the forum too.

Chris is rolling his eyes as he reads this! My making it happen means asking him to do it!!!! lol!! He's been such a good sport! I've made him crazy throughout this. (Chris face!) I'm the old fossil in this mix, fighting for what us older guard want to see! A PHONE NUMBER! He and our developers are brilliant young guys. I learned early on the more I stayed out of the way the better this turned out. I made choices when asked and tried not to be a pinta. Didn't happen as much as they would have liked! All of their daily routines were: get stuff done and calm Geoff down!

I don't EVER EVER EVER want to go through this again! :( This is it until I wind up in a lawn chair on a permanent basis!

If you refresh your browser the phone number should come up here on the forum. They are looking at the website to see what can be done. I say "that looks like a good spot, put it there". The answer is, if it gets put there you won't be able to see it on other devices. This is a "responsive" website. That means it reorganizes all website components to be seen on any size device. So my cell, tablet, and desk top have 3 different views. There are some things I would want differently. However there are compromises that must be made to accommodate all different devices.

Phone number is now on the website as well. Top right corner and will stay there permanently during browsing. I would have liked it louder and prouder on the website. However back to the responsive issue. It would not have worked on mobile devices. It is tap and call from cell phones though! I like that! Thanks for advice Skip!!

Yep, easy to see on my iPad. No looking around for it.
Was this done in house or through someone else (lightburn?).
Looks really nice.

One thing I noticed, and I brought it to Jakes attention as well. The commercial for the new IQ2000 doesn't mention it's made in the USA or even the warranty which is 3yrs.
I would put the applicable info in the description. May help with sales.

Bought one for my truck and it works very well. Had many compliments on its quietness.
Made in the USA and the warranty was the main reason for purchasing.

I'm glad it is visible from all devices. Thanks for checking.

We are using a local web developer here in Michigan. They are good guys to work with. They have allowed us to be involved to help with cost savings. They are doing the design and heavy lifting. We are loading products, pictures, specs and such

Great observations! We have a lot of work to do on portable product. When we get there we will clean it up.

I agree! Isn't it a great little generator.

Yes the company you used did a nice job.

Maybe Generac will pay you for all the pictures your taking and utilize them on Genservice. Very few items on there have a picture associated with it. Don't know if they abandoned that or not, but it seems like no forward progress is being made. Must be all hands on deck fixing SAP related issues.

They know a lot of work is needed with images. That has been one of our hardest tasks to find or create good images. Generac has a lot of images there is simply no organization. They are committed to doing a better job. I'm being told they have hired an outside source specifically for this task. We all must continue to ask for the things we need of them. Eventually we will get them. I realized a while ago they are such a big machine they don't know where the problems are unless we tell them.

A lot of continued improvements on the site this week! So much to do, it is overwhelming. Chris works hard and my job is to hope for him! I want to say thanks Chris publicly. You have been Superman!

For the rest of you to get an idea of his life. All he has to do lately is build a website, get all our maintenance, service and warranty done, keep parts on the shelves, train a new mechanic, fix all our computers and crashes, Make our new email system work, answer stupid questions from the rest of us in the office, Talk customers through issues on the phone, Sell things, and keep the forum running. Did I miss anything? Whew...I'm tired just typing it all out! Hard to find good help these days!! I'll keep looking!!

I try and provide feedback (positive & constructive) as often as possible. It's been well received and appreciated. Nothing worse than trying to improve on something and having it fall on deaf ears. Hasn't been the case with Generac.

Hopefully all the problems they faced with SAP will be worth it in the long run.

And just what does Chris do with the rest of his time?

(Tongue placed firmly in cheek!)
