First off happy labor day to all.

Tonight while i was checking over my 8 k generac model # 5501 i was wiping some light debris from under the engine and discovered these 2 unknown parts.

The first is a spring in good shape and the other is a rusty piece that looks similar but not exact to the engine choke throttle?

Anyway engine seems to be running okay......

I have had 2 different warranty issues in the last ten years, the first generac replaced the engine due to a bad wave washer
and the second the air box needed work the engine wasnt iddling correctly.

so im asking anyone that knows this model is the small spring look familiar, im not to worried about the rusty one

thanks

The rusty piece and spring look like the governor adjustment pieces.

They are the Gov. fine adjustment. Should be a screw rolling around somewhere. Not needed if running smooth.

the spring is much smaller than the governor spring

Spring is from the throttle/governor linkage to keep tension on the links, rusty link from the governor. Both may have been left in the unit after the repair work. Can you show us a picture of the governor adjustment screws and springs, we may be able to see if all correct.

That rusty piece (or was) fits into the bracket on the starter motor. It should have a screw that fits into the end and that spring should attach to the flat end and the governor arm.

yes i put the rusty piece on a wire wheel to clean it up

thanks to all for the help
