Can someone please tell me what the tightening torque value is for the sparkplug. Also, is the sparkplug 14mm or 18mm.

Thanks

What generator do you have? Specifications are different for different models. Please give us the complete model number that you can find on a label in the generator housing.

Do you have the owner's manual for your generator?

I have a Model 0055040, 17KW generator. Yes, I do have the owner's manual. It only mentions gap (.040"); does not specify tightening torque value.

Thanks

From your manual (page 7) - the proper plug is a Champion RC14YC.

From the www.championsparkplugs.com web site, that plug has a 14 mm thread. It requires a 5/8" socket for installation/removal. The torque rating for aluminum heads is 18.0 to 21.6 lb-ft.

Thanks Skip. One more question for you. The maintenance kit I ordered from Ziller arrived yesterday. The new airfilter came with a foam skirt that surrounds the pleated filter. The OEM air filter set up on my unit did not have the "skirt". Is this some "improvement" that I should install, or should I use the OEM configuration.

Use the foam. That keeps the paper filter cleaner and you can wash the foam outer cover.
