Many of you that have been around awhile will remember Skip Douglas (SkipD). He has been a Forum Moderator for us since pretty much the beginning. Just a great guy helping out as a labor of love. He is a dear friend to Ziller and me personally.

Anyway he has not been around for awhile. He has been battling Parkinson's Disease. He kept up with helping out. Then sometime last year he told me it was getting too hard to type. So he wanted to still approve new members but slow down on watching the forum so much. Sometime in the 4th quarter last year he said I have to take a break. Which I took that to mean he had to be done.

I have always checked up on Skip since he was first diagnosed. He told me if he quit answering either he had passed away or simply couldn't respond. If that happened he gave me his wife Cindy's information to follow up. Well I sent a note during the holidays. Realizing recently I had not heard back from him. I emailed Cindy for an update. His legs and knees have really deteriorated and he cannot hold his weight anymore. He hardly ever makes it into his office anymore. Cindy has been caring for him along with part time caregivers coming in to give her a little break.

It has been very hard for both of them. I remember Skip saying some time ago that Parkinson's was slowly robbing him of the fun in his life. Cindy gave me permission to update you all. I have always kept them in my thoughts and prayers. I told her I was sure there were many more that would love to do the same. She was very grateful for that.

Sorry to be so long winded. This is a special guy that has been here for us all for a long time. I just wanted to take this time to honor him in some small way for everything he has been to Ziller and this Forum community.

Sorry to hear this disturbing information on Skip. I hope he is comforted by all of the members regards for his health and for that of Cindy as she attends to Skip's needs as it is a labor of love and not a simple one at that.  I will keep Skip and family in my prayers and Skip if you are reading this we hope you improve enough to get back into the forum and help us all figure out what we need to figure out. Ray.

Skip helped me, along with everyone here, during my 22kW self install.  I am grateful to him, and to all of you, for the help that I received.  I hope he is finding happiness along the way of his journey through that horrible disease.

My thanks especially to Skip and all of the others who contribute to make this forum "work".  I not only appreciate the help you all have provided me over the years and the tidbits of generator-related lore, but also the fun of shared camaraderie clearly evident in many of your posts.

Dear Cindy and Skip
My heart and prayers go out to you and your family during these difficult times. I remember back in 2012 when I joined the forum how this guy named Skip was always there with his advice. I can't help thinking how many injuries and catasturfies Skip has prevented. He graciously steered the poster to get more experienced people "electrician" ect involved when he realized things weren't  going in a safe direction.  THANK YOU SKIP.

I will forward this thread to Cindy. She can read it for Skip. I’m sure they will be touched by the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Thanks everyone.

I'm very sad to inform that Skip did pass away. I sent Cindy an email and did not get a reply. In searching I found his obituary. One of the genuine "good guys". A dear friend to Ziller, myself, and this forum community. Our deepest condolences to Cindy and family for their loss. For those who would like to take a look at his obituary click on his picture. Thanks, Geoff
