Just did a start up for another contractor, unit is a 17 kw M#5885. Set the exercise on quiet test and programmed it to run while I was on site. RPM's was at 1640-1650, and was running like a old outboard motor, really rough and stumbling bad as if a spark plug was out. Runs great at full RPM's. Any suggestions on why this unit runs so rough. Good gas pressure and is at 6" wc.

Thanks for the input

Hotwire, would love to assist. my access to the proper troubleshooting data requires a complete model and serial number. A 17 m5885 is greek to most service techs. I work on so many different models that partial numbers don't ring my bell so to speak. Serial numbers always get a faster response.

Sorry Doug,
I called Kelly on the monitor question which I posted about, and also asked this question to him, He said to bend up the choke plate about a 1/16th of an inch. I recall reading about that trick or someone told me, but it worked and the unit is running fine.

Thanks Kelly

Thanks for the update. I work on everything from portables to industrial. Always like to know the problem was resolved and everyone is a happy camper. Little tidbits of info are always a big help.
