I am replacing the control board on a model 62370 8kw Generac. The question: I have pulled the 7.5amp fuse and turned the breaker on the side of the generator off. I still have lights on the existing control board probably due to the generator being wired to a breaker in my main panel. Should I proceed to swap out the control board with lights on? Will this do damage when installing the new board? Should I also shut off the breaker in the main panel to make sure all power to the existing control panel is off? Even when I removed the battery the lights are still on. Thanks in advance!

The battery charger is keeping the board powered, a fuse in the transfer switch labeled 'T1' will kill the power when removed, just be careful and use a plastic fuse puller as that circuit  and those next to it are all 120 volts.

Thanks. So is it imperative to pull this fuse when replacing the control board?

Yes, never remove or install a part from any device while the power is still turned on
