Hi all. New member here. I have sort of an odd question. I'm living off grid with a 6 kw ecogen. I picked up a 13 kw 52530 model as a power supply for my machines. Is there any way I can modify the controller or is there one sold that will allow the genny to idle on stand by and rev up as needed under load? Seems a waste ff energy running it full bore. Even if I can run a switched remote low voltage line to kick it up manually would work. Thanks
By the way, this is a great site!

That generator will run at the same RPM all the time it is running. The battery charger won't operate properly if the RPM is lowered significantly.

There could be other problems as well, but I have to leave that one to the experienced techs who frequent the forums.

A two pole air cooled unit runs at 3600rpm to produce 60hz.
If you had a four pole liquid cooled unit it would run at 1800rpm.

Ok. Thanks for the answers guys. I just thought someone would know a way to trick the unit to idle down without screaming. I don't need the hertz at idle, and likely run at 3600 enough to charge the battery. I realize the voltage control board is sealed, but with a potentiometer on there to tweek votlage, it's too bad it couldn't be goofed with for a high/ low range kinda like the 20 kw units that have a low speed exercise.

Low speed exercise is not producing 60hz either.
You'll find that the engines are made to be most efficient running at the spec rpm.
