Goofy4TheWorld

I am starting a new thread to ask this question instead of posting it in the original "new software" thread as a direct result of the problem I am having, as described below.

So to check new posts I am surfing to my Bookmark/Favorite of https://www.zillerstore.com/new (which is the same as if I clicked "TOPICS" and then clicked "New") and it is true that the I see all threads from all "categories" listed and in general the unread ones will be at the top of the list (although there will be mixed in a few threads which are not in bold and have no new postings).

It is true that when I look at this page I see that threads with updates are in BOLD letters, and it is true that when I click on the bolded threads that the page will automatically scroll down to the bottom of the thread's conversation so that I can usually spot the not-read-by-me post(s).

HOWEVER, if I scroll over to page 2 and beyond (up to page 25) I will invariably see a lonely BOLD topic on page 3-4-or-5 that will be the only thread on this page in bold, and when I click on that thread the site will scroll me down and I will see that there is in fact a new post made to what is actually an "old" thread.   Specifically, it appears to me that the listings of threads are sorted STRICTLY in order of the CREATION of that thread topic, instead of being sorted in order of the MOST RECENT POST, with the most recent ones being at the top.

So with this quirk it essentially makes posting to a thread anything more than a week old pointless, because unless users scroll through multiple pages of threads they are not going to see a new post if it's made to a post started weeks or months ago!

So am I doing it wrong????   Is there a way to look at a list of any-and-all threads with new posts, where the list puts the threads in order of their most recent post time/date instead of the time/date that the threads were first created???

A simple function to show all new threads since your last visit would be most useful.

Knock on wood, but so far today using this link has worked exactly like I want (it sorts all the threads by last-posting date).  Big thanks!

It's wired though, because when I clicked the link I was previously using I would try clicking the "latest" button next but it never did sort them they way it does when I start out by following the link https://www.zillerstore.com/latest.

I’m glad that is working for you. When I’m leaving I have been going back to topics page and clicking the funny looking check mark upper right by the black start new topic button. Then I close down from there. I don’t quite know if it really makes a difference. It does mark everything as read and all new replies are first when I come back later.
