Where do I click to look at "New Posts"?

I have the same question.  I only want to see posts since the last time I was here.

Hey Guys,
Tyler and our new support team are working on functionality and stability issues as we just launched. We were simply done being ignored by vB. These new guys seem great and have been responsive. I'm sorry for anything that may have been lost with all this transferring, back ups and such. Hopefully we can count on a more stable system where we will never have to go through this again. We will get to issues soon as we are able. Thanks for your patience

I do see the + sign upper right on a post. I clicked that and it allows me to follow the post. Then the drop down arrow next to my avatar allows me to click on followed content. That brings the post up. Then you can click in the box on the right of the post and discontinue following it.

I found it. Click on topics. Then the header on that page has latest and new tabs.

Unfortunately that gives a long list of posts with the new items in bold.  What I want is a list of only the new items.  There is also way too much white space between the posts.  What is the point of the huge squares with initials?

For right now that is what we have to work with. Tyler my IT vendor has worked exhaustively on this to be where we are today. He has many other duties. I cannot afford to pay him enough to drop everything else to take care of Ziller. We will make it better over time. The square is for an avatar. You can go to your profile and add a picture or logo.

Go to topics click on top and click today in the drop down box. Does that help organize them how you want to see them?
Quote

Unfortunately no, it lists 10 topics, 4 of which are in a bold font.
Done the way the previous software worked only the 4 bold items would be listed.

A simple test for what i would like is to click the "Mark all topics read" button.
Then a click for new topics should show nothing, not a list with no bold entries.

I don’t know how to offer any other help. I’m brand new at this system too. In poking around I found preferences in settings. Maybe some of those options can help. Take a look. If not maybe someone else will chime in if they find an answer.

Be patient, this forum is not about me, me, me. Be thankfull that Geoff has invested time and money into this. All of us wish it could be as it was but life is about change. We all have the power to make this forum better.

I agree with 78buckshot. Change takes time and effort. This is a good forum and Ziller has put a lot of time and effort into it. More than any of us have. Give them a chance.

I’m an old electrician/business owner. Years ago I saw a need for a place to talk about Generac. I paid others to build it. Today I pay others when it breaks. I want to believe it brings revenue back to Ziller enough to support this and bring some profit in as well. However I have no way of knowing that. As important to me is the goodwill I hope it creates. It just gives me a warm fuzzy that it is here. I’m humbled to see what it has become. You guys did that not me. I’m not much to hope for. I’m not a computer guy nor a Generac tech. I just provided a spot and stayed out of your way. My business, staff, and most importantly customers come first. For that I won’t apologize. This forum has become a big part of who Ziller is. I know it is in good hands when I have to be away at times. Look what it has become. You guys did that. This is not my forum it is our forum. It is not here without you guys.

Ok here is what I did. I was at topics page and latest tab. I clicked on that funny check mark by the new post button upper right. That marked everything as read. Took my morning nap! When I came back topics with new posts were dark black. When I clicked on a topic it took me to the new post. There was a small dot under member name next to the time stamp. Signifying I had not read it yet. When I got out and came back that dot was gone. Please try that and see if it helps.

I am now using this URL

https://www.zillerstore.com/latest

to visit the forum.  New posts are at the top of the list in bold.  When I click on a post and wait patiently it automatically scrolls down to the first post with a dot.

This new forum software is one oft the best I've seen in function and readability (once I figured out the various buttons). There I one minor improvement that would make it near perfect. When a thread reaches more that one page and you finish reading to the last post, clicking on the arrow back to the first page takes you to the top of the first page. It would be nice if there was a similar navigation option on a one page thread.

I have the exact opposite view of this forum software. I cannot find any of my old posts. I cannot navigate past the first page of anything. I cannot find or modify my profile.

I am not new to forums and currently belong to 11 various forums, Goldwing, machinist, travel trailers, farms, tractors, Detroit Diesel, etc. I do not have any problems with them.

Hodgy, the forum software has nothing to do with the lost posts. The change was made because they were lost in the previous software, along with other malfunctions..

I think there must be a way, maybe someone can chime in if they know how.  I cannot navigate past the first page of anything. Do you not have the arrows at the very bottom lower right corner of the page?  I cannot find or modify my profile. As Murphy previously stated click on your H avatar very top right corner of the page. That will drop down the options you are missing.

Maybe they are using a different software? We picked this one because it seemed to be a solid, stable platform. We also found their tech support to be very responsive.

We are all new to this. We can help each other learn. I would love nothing more than for this to be my only job to sit here and make it perfect. I have a business to run also. In time lets help each other get there.

Hodgy, if I click on your H avatar to the left of your post it brings up a page that shows 500 previous posts. Try that and see if it works.
