I am installing a new 10KW Generac. My main circuit panel is full. I am planning on installing a 2 pole 50 Amp breaker to connect to ATS (Ez-Switch).

Can I remove breakers from my main panel for those circuits I am planning to back up? This will give the the space to put the 2 pole 50 Amp breaker to connect to ATS.

Is 2 pole 50 Amp a reasonable breaker to use with this installation? I am planning on using the 5 - 15 Amp breakers on the Ez Switch and disconnect the 20 and 30 amp breakers as I don't believe I will need them for this installation.

Thanks.

You will be removing wiring from breakers in your current breaker panel and extending the wiring to breakers in your transfer switch. You can then remove the now-unused breakers in your breaker panel. This will free up the two adjacent positions needed for the 2-pole breaker which will supply utility power to the transfer switch.

If you do not not fully understand the National Electrical Code and any other applicable codes in your area, I strongly suggest that you hire a competent qualified electrician to help you with the job and to act in your behalf when the job is inspected.

You will need to pull a permit and have the job inspected. DON'T DO THE JOB ANY OTHER WAY. You could run into all sorts of problems later on if you don't do it right.

Thanks. I have submitted paper work for inspection. I have no intentions of doing this without formal inspection. I also plan to have a licensed electrician assist with the installation.
