Just installed a 60 KW Generac unit. Getting a low voltage shut-down and code. Tested voltage at 3 volts. Generac rep was onhand for startup, but has no idea what the issue is. Any ideas?

Did you have a Generac rep on hand as in a sales person? Or did you have a Generac certified technician there? While reps can sometimes be reliable, they don't specialize in problem solving when the equipment fails. You probably need to get with the company that did the install and see if they'll do a home services call to check it for manufacturer's defects.

I am new to this forum but I am not new to repairing generac generators. I can steer you in the right direction. To accomplish this most of generac generators for look up I will need the complete model and SERIAL NUMBER please.

Check the wiring connections on the exciter. We just started up a 40kw today and it shut down immediately. Found one wire had came out of the crimp connector. Replaced the connector and it ran fine. Went back and checked the other crimps and could pull the wires out by hand. I guess Hop Sing had a bad night before he came to work:mad:
