model 0052440 16kw on lpg runs fine carries the load. Since new 3 years ago it sometimes does not transfer on autostart. When that happens there is no voltage to the switch. Shutdown and bang the 60 amp breakers several times and restart it will usually transfer. Replaced breakers and it was good for a while. Got bad again so I tightened the connections and it transfered about 12 times. Now it's intermittant again. Power goes out as many as 12 times in a day here in the Bahamas!

Banging the breaker is a waste of time. The issue is with the brushes. You need to clean the slip rings and replace the brushes. Generac also makes a kit to boost the field boost circuit. There is another thread on that.

I will agree with Tim, amazingly :D
The environment you are in will corrode the parts not allowing them to work. But I will ask what type of wire is between the gen. and the ATS? Copper or aluminum?
One thing you could do for the time being is to start the unit and make sure it is putting out as it should. Then load the gen. with just as much load as possible and let it carry a heavy load for one or two hours. This will help clean the brushes until they can be replaced.
Or send me and Tim round trip tickets and we will look at it for you
