I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO GAVE ME INPUT ON MY GAS SUPPLY QUESTION.
I'AM ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM, LET YOU KNOW.

LET ME TELL YOU WHAT I FOUND. I CALLED GENERAC SPOKE TO A TECH, GUESS WHAT, THERE IS A RECALL ON THE GAS REGULATOR AND PLENUM  THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO PARTS GOES BAD YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE UNIT.  I FEEL ZILLER SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS THEY ARE ONE OF THE BIGGEST DEALERS...

Fred,
Posting my response to your other post again in case you didn't see it.

If by Zillow you mean Ziller, I feel the need to better explain what happened. You called here asking to purchase a fuel regulator. One of my girls did research, called Generac and found the correct fuel regulator. She sent you a picture for your confirmation. Upon seeing the picture you then purchased the regulator. We made it clear there are no returns and no warranty unless installed by a Generac dealer. You received the part and called back that it was not what you were looking for after previously visually approving it. In spite of everything else we offered to take it back if it was new in the box. You realized there is a plenum when Peddler explained that here on the forum. I found out you have a plenum at the same time. If I thought there was anything I could add I would have. You were getting the advice you needed right here. I believe if I look you are on two threads here. Then you found out there is a recall on that unit. Which is why we sent you here to our forum in the first place because these incredible folks here help everyone. So in the end we are not the keeper of Generac. We are one small dealer helping everyone we can. We cannot call up every recall upon demand. We had every phone line lit for 2 weeks straight during the same time we were helping you. We have been kind and taken many calls from you doing our best to help. Everyone in our building knows who you are because of the amount of calls and we are happy to do it. We are all about you attempting to work on your own generator if you are capable. We provide this forum as a place for answers. So please don't make me feel like you did not receive personal attention to your care. We are still here to help if needed. You can also use a local Generac dealer that would have known about the recall upon site. So I hope you will return the same kindness we have afforded you.

I will return the kindness thank you for getting back to me I just felt when asking about that particular item got it would have been known that there has been a recall on it and I would have ordered the complete unit no worries I always thank you for taking my calls and helping out and yes all the installation work is done by a generac dealer not by me

holy cra*.....why is it Ziller's fault you ordered wrong part. Its also not their business to know about a recall. Generac does NOT contact their dealers about recall items. i only found about the problem when it happened to a customers generator. And just so Fred G knows...Generac will only supply parts and warranty repair cost to a certified generac repairman, not to a homeowner. Generac had an alert out to certain generators and sent letters to those registered owners. on older generators many owners never registered their units so generac had no idea who they were and never sent them a letter. They put out a service alert to techs to inspect gas system with sniffers when doing generator service. i now routinely inspect generators that have a plenum system.

In our defense we were working 12-13-14 hours per day helping everybody we could. I personally am aware of the recall. Had I the time to be involved I would have figured that out. We just can't be everything to everybody simultaneously. We would have been in trouble if there were 2 more of me. I was and still am on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I pull up my big boy panties each morning, say a prayer, and dig back in. I am NOT in any way looking for sympathy. Maybe just a little understanding. We don't rest until everything is made right. We know how Blessed we are here at Ziller.

I am glad you are working with a Generac dealer. Gas supply is serious, dangerous business. You will get the piece of mind it is done properly and safely.

For what it is worth there is Not a recall on those fuel plenum and demand regulator parts.  There is an inspection campaign and they are being replaced under warranty when corrosion is found even if it is beyond the warranty period.

Which units are we talking about? And how far back? My 13kw air cooled is over 10 years old. If I've missed something I apologize, it's 2am and I can't sleep so I'm reading posts... lol Thanks!

Look in the lower right compartment behind the battery. If you don't see the black plenum (canister looking thing) you have nothing to worry about

Sure enough, that's it. I wonder if that's why during the exercise cycle it never starts on the first round of cranking? After it starts it runs perfect... So what's my next step if anything at all?

As I mentioned maybe last week Zillow is spot-on with their technical advice I made the mistake by not looking deep enough to see the black box in the back we're fortunate to have their forum

in2hockey, the regulator and plenum rarely are a problem, the issue with the plenum was rust causing a fuel leak, if you are not smelling gas and the plenum checks out ok as far as rust then your starting problem is caused by another issue.

@78buckshot
I figured as much on the plenum, it's appears to be in good shape still and no propane odor. Our relatively mild weather in the Pacific North West is pretty easy on outside appliances. You and I, along with the regular contributors had previously discussed the long start issue in another thread. I've done everything suggested and have concluded that "it is what it is". The unit is over a decade old and runs like a top, it's just slow to start. Thanks again to all the PROS who take time out of their lives to help all of us home owners tackle our issues....

We could re-visit your original thread and go over the details if you want to, maybe we missed something.

@78buckshot
Thanks! I might re-read the thread again and make sure I double checked all the advice given. I spoke of our mild weather and then "boom" the entire state is on fire. My home/property went level 1 evacuation almost immediately but fortunately we never elevated from that, others have not been so lucky. Lost power for 4 days and my little unit ran like a champ as did my Bosses 45kw the entire time! Life is starting to get a little more back to normal as each day goes by...

Wow, I want a house that needs 45kW genset.  Think of all the nannies I could afford if I had that.
