I am installing a Generac 5875 20kW generator. The local utility will be installing a new meter and line from the gas main which is about 15 feet from the generator installation location. I assume I will have to make sure they install a regulator on the meter that regulates to between 5" and 7" water column as specified in the installation manual? The generator will be the only appliance on this new meter (the rest of the house is on a separate meter coming from a separate line off the main gas line)

The length of pipe from the newly-installed meter to the generator is about 8 feet and includes 2 elbows. The size of the gas line input into the generator is 1/2", and it comes with a flexible hose that is also 1/2" in diameter. In reading the manual it appears however that I need to run at least 1" pipe from the meter to the generator. Is that correct, even though it is only 8 feet of pipe? If not, then does that mean I can run 1/2" pipe from the generator to the meter, then upsize to 1" so that it can connect into the meter? If if I have to use 1" pipe from the meter, then I guess I would need to reduce the 1" pipe from the meter to 1/2" so I could connect to the flexible hose and then connect into the generator itself? Is that correct? Sorry for the seemingly dumb questions, just want to make sure I am figuring this correctly.

One last silly question: if I do have to run 1" pipe up to the flexible hose, doesn't the 1/2" diameter limit the gas flow at the point of connection, so that I am not getting the "full flow" of the 1" pipe?
