I purchased a Generac 5671 10k unit. .
I need some help with a wire issue.
The switch comes with 30’ of #8 with the control wires in bx (armored cable)
My preferred location for the generator would require a run of 60-65’ to the transfer switch which will be mounted next to the main breakers.

My plan is to run the wire along an enclosed beam in the basement. Since the beam is boxed in I don’t think I can place conduit. Would it be allowable to fish romax in this area?
Would I have to go to 6/3 for this length of run?

What should be used for the control wires?
Thanks

If you change over to NM (romex) you will have to up size it to 6/3w ground. The ampacity of your #8 is 50 amp but changing over to NM changes the ampacity rating due to 334.80 (2011 nec).
You can do the same with the control wiring 12-2 or 14-2.

Thank you for your response.
That is what I will plan to use.
