Generac 22 KW Air generator. Gas Meter and vent already installed the property. There are no windows or doors. 3' from electric meter. I am getting different distances from everyone. I know this question has been asked before. Is there a code someone can point to that states distance from natural gas meter with a vent attached to the meter to the generator? Gas company is saying 3'. Generac doesn't specifically mention natural gas but the installation manual for this generator states 3' for everything else. City saying 6'. This is natural gas not propane. Thank you in advance!

Your local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) determines the rules for your location. Their opinion is the only one that matters if you want to pass the inspection.

The required distance from the vent of the natural gas utility provider's gas meter will always be a utility requirement and would be referenced in the Utility's Service Rules manuals. The fuel gas codes require a minimum of 3 feet, but the gas utility may require a greater separation. I have seen requirements between 3-10 feet throughout the country.

The Utility may permit the vent to be extended to the required distance.
