I have a 20kw Guardian, NG fired. I need to replace the battery. I pretty well know the process having read the manual and online info. What I've yet to discover is what happens to the data stored on in the control panel. Will it be lost when battery is disconnected? If so, how is it re-entered? Also, other than switching the unit to 'off', do I also pull the 7.5 fuse or not? The unit is working well and has since installation about 5 years ago. It has about 300 hours on engine and aside from a sticking choke which I replaced, it has given no serious problem. I changed out oil, filters, and plugs about 250 hours. Any help would be appreciated. By the way the battery has been changed out once already but not by me.

All you need to do is turn the generator off, disconnect the negative cable first then the positive and remove the battery. When installing it hook the positive first and the negative second. You will be asked to re-enter the time of day all other data will remain the same. Always be careful when changing the battery not to allow an arc across the terminals and it is best to wear safety glasses. Peddler

I have had the battery out of my 10kW model 58710 a couple of times so far, and I have not had to reset or re-enter any information. The last time, it was out for several hours while I repaired an oil leak.

Thanks for the information. By the way, this isn't my 'first rodeo' on battery installation. I just need to know what to expect if I disconnected the battery from the control unit's memory. Thanks again.
