I have a 8 kw no spark ,cranks for 10 sec. Then locks out error code 1515 tried new plug no spark when grounded, thinking ignition coil?

That is the most probable part, if you can find wire no.18 near the oil filter and disconnect it, then try for spark.

This RPM alarm is set when a single (1) cylinder unit is cranking. It's caused when the controller told the engine to crank, but did not get a signal back that the engine was actually turning. Possible causes are a dead or bad battery, bad starter or wiring to the starter, or ignition coil problems

OK, so RPM sense loss on the single cylinder is most often attributed to the engine not turning over( not cranking). In the case stated above if the unit is cranking and has no spark then we're looking at a bad coil or wiring. If the starter motor is not turning the engine over then we're looking at the starting system - battery and cables, controller, starter solenoid, starter motor, and all associated control wiring. The starter solenoid is prone to failure and would be the second thing I would check after the battery and cables.
